about the artist

James Kerry Baldwin is an abstract painter working on the edge of a forest outside London. His paintings — large formats and diptychs in highly expressive colour — move from instinctive mark-making toward a figuration that surfaces only as the work resolves. He often has five to ten canvases in progress at once.

The forest is his daily studio: a practice of attention, silence, and repetition that feeds directly into the work. His paintings are held in private collections across Europe and the United States.

Represented by Gobbi Fine Art, New York, and Kaizen Fine Art, Surrey.
